In the fourth episode of Interno, Mariam Arcilla speaks with Bianca Mavrick, a Brisbane-based jewellery designer of Greek heritage. Conducted over Zoom, they discuss the cultural signifiers, familial narratives and colour palettes that inform Bianca’s practice, as well as the rituals and DIY activities that help Bianca revitalise during times of disquietude.
Bianca Mavrick is an Australian contemporary jewellery designer based in Queensland. Her jewellery examines ways to preserve culture, narrative and memory, particularly after the place or people no longer exist. She completed a Bachelor of Fine Art, majoring in Jewellery and Small Objects from Queensland College of Art after first studying Industrial Design. Her production ranges have been exhibited and stocked in various galleries, fashion retailers and design stores in Australia (including NGV Design Store, Pieces of Eight, and Craft Victoria) and internationally (namely Anthropologie, United Arrows, Shopbop and Lane Crawford).
